If you’re thinking of buying a cheap graphics card for your gaming computer it might be a mistake. The graphics card, or video card, is hands down the most important part of a gaming computer build. That isn’t to say you have to spend hundreds of dollars on one, but certainly this is not the area to skimp out on. If you buy a decent card now then it will probably save you a lot of frustration while trying to play newer games, down the road.
As of September, 2011, I am of the opinion that a good amount to spend on a new build or an upgrade is around $170. For this price you should be able to find something that will last for a few years. If you haven’t read it on this site already somewhere, I always recommend that one spends a lot of money on one card instead of splitting the money between two cards. So yes, I am saying that great card is better than two mediocre cards running is Crossfire or SLI.
